Introduction

FACULTY OF BIOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT

The Faculty of Biology and Environment, formerly the Faculty of Biotechnology and Environmental Engineering, was established in 2001. The faculty plays a key role in education, research, and technology transfer in the fields of biotechnology and environmental sciences, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development at both national and regional levels. Its mission is to develop high-quality human resources capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving science- and technology-driven economy.

As of April 2026, the faculty comprises 42 full-time academic staff, with 100% holding postgraduate qualifications or higher. The academic workforce includes 2 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, and 16 PhD holders, with doctoral-qualified staff accounting for 52.4%, reflecting the faculty’s strong academic and research capacity.

The faculty is structured into four academic departments:

  •       Bioprocess Engineering
  •       Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology
  •       Environmental Engineering
  •       Environmental Management

To support teaching, research, and innovation, the faculty operates six specialized laboratories equipped with modern, continuously upgraded facilities, enabling applied research, postgraduate training, and technology transfer in collaboration with industry and external partners.

Currently, the faculty offers seven academic programs, including three undergraduate, two master’s, and two doctoral programs:

In addition to degree programs, the faculty delivers a range of short-term professional training courses, including wastewater treatment plant design and operation, HSE, and microbiological analysis, as well as joint training programs with universities and colleges, and workforce upskilling programs for enterprises and industrial partners.
