Message from the faculty leadership

 In fulfilling the mission of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, the Faculty of Biology and Environment is one of the places for training, scientific research - technology transfer, and fostering high-quality human resources, effectively serving the cause of sustainable socio-economic and environmental development for the Southern and the whole country of Vietnam. The goal is to reach a level on par with advanced countries in the field of biotechnology application and environmental protection in Southeast Asia.

The Faculty of Biology and Environment has 04 departments: (1) Environmental Engineering, (2) Environmental Management, (3) Biological Process Engineering, (4) Agricultural-Medical Biotechnology. Currently, the Faculty's training program includes 03 undergraduate majors: Environmental Engineering Technology, Resource and Environmental Management, Biotechnology; 02 master's majors: Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology; 02 doctoral majors: Environmental Science, Biotechnology. In addition, the Faculty has one laboratory and one research institute for technology transfer supporting the Faculty in scientific research and teaching: the Environmental Biology Laboratory, HUFI Institute of Applied Research and Technology Transfer.

The Faculty currently has 44 staff members; 42 lecturers, including: 2 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 16 PhDs, 20 Masters, 1 Researcher, and 1 Specialist. Lecturers are trained in Biotechnology, Environmental Management and Engineering, most of them having received their training at universities and research institutes abroad (UK, Italy, South Korea, Japan, etc.). In recent years, the Faculty has actively carried out many research projects and contracts, making practical contributions to the development of biotechnology and environmental protection management solutions, specifically in the fields of: Research and development of biotechnology applications in high-tech agriculture; Genetic resource conservation and biodiversity; Climate change adaptation; Multidisciplinary environmental management; Research and development of wastewater, air, and sludge treatment technologies; Application of information technology, remote sensing, and modeling in management; Occupational health and safety; Proposing sustainable development solutions for enterprises or localities.
