Faculty of Biology and Environment holds seminar on effective learning strategies for university students

On October 26, 2026, the Faculty of Biology and Environment at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) organized a seminar entitled “Effective Learning Strategies for University Students” as part of its academic activities for the 2026–2027 academic year. The event attracted more than 400 students from the Faculty and other faculties across the University.

The seminar was delivered by Dr. Pham Van Loc, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Environment, with the aim of helping students understand the key differences between learning at high school and university. It also provided practical guidance on developing effective, proactive, and independent learning approaches.

During the seminar, Dr. Pham Van Loc emphasized that university education goes beyond acquiring academic knowledge. It is a comprehensive process that fosters students' personal and professional development. He highlighted three essential areas of competence: personal qualities and professional attitudes, practical skills, and specialized knowledge, which are fundamental to academic success and future career development.

The seminar also introduced a four-step active learning approach: setting learning goals, learning from academic resources, learning through classroom engagement, and learning from practical experiences. By integrating these approaches, students can strengthen their self-directed learning abilities, enhance critical thinking, and develop the capacity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations.

Through practical examples and insightful discussions, the seminar provided students with valuable perspectives on independent learning, effective study management, and the importance of cultivating a positive learning attitude in higher education.

The event received enthusiastic participation from students, particularly first-year students transitioning into university life. It offered practical insights and motivation to help them adapt to the university learning environment and build a strong foundation for their academic journey at HUIT.

Through this initiative, the Faculty of Biology and Environment reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing educational quality and supporting students' holistic development in knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes.
